Email & Anti-Spam Policy
Our commitment to permission-based email and how we comply with anti-spam laws.

JournalCall operates JournalCall as a strictly permission-based email service. This policy explains how we collect addresses, what we send, and how we comply with anti-spam laws including the US CAN-SPAM Act, Canada’s CASL, and the EU/UK GDPR and ePrivacy rules.
1. How we build our list
- Opt-in only. Every recipient subscribed through this website by entering their own address.
- Double opt-in. We send a confirmation email and only add the address after the recipient clicks the confirmation link.
- Consent records. We store the time, IP and user-agent of both the subscription and the confirmation.
- No purchased lists. We never buy, rent, scrape, or otherwise acquire addresses from third parties.
2. What every email contains
- A clear identification of who is sending it (JournalCall / JournalCall).
- An accurate “From” name and subject line — no deceptive headers.
- A working one-click unsubscribe link (including RFC 8058 List-Unsubscribe one-click).
- Our valid physical postal address.
3. Unsubscribes
Unsubscribe requests are honored immediately and automatically. Once you opt out, your address is added to our suppression list and we will not email you again unless you re-subscribe yourself. You can also unsubscribe by emailing hello@journalcall.org or via our preferences page.
4. Bounce & complaint handling
- We process delivery, bounce and complaint feedback from our email providers automatically.
- Hard bounces and spam complaints are suppressed permanently and immediately.
- We monitor complaint and bounce rates and pause sending to protect recipients and reputation.
5. Frequency & relevance
We send only relevant calls for papers matched to the subject areas you chose, at a reasonable frequency. We would rather send less and stay welcome than send more and become noise.
6. Reporting abuse
If you believe you received an email from us that you did not sign up for, please tell us at abuse@journalcall.org and we will investigate, suppress the address, and correct any issue promptly.
